A-Z Photography Dictionary (Sections A, B, C)


One of the requirements to become a reliable photographer is to understand the terms related to the world of photography. For those who are new to the world of photography, it must be very strange about these terms. Therefore I will give a little explanation of these terms.


-Urutan from alphabet 'A'-


  • A: An abbreviation of 'auto' which means a password for automatic facility selection.
  • AF: which stands for 'auto-focus' where the camera works without requiring the photographer to locate the focus manually.
  • AL servo AF: an auto-focus suggestion yag used for photographing moving objects.
  • Angle of view: Viewpoint / angle of shooting.
  • Aperture diaphragm: the hole where light enters into the camera from the lens to the top of the film.
  • Aperture priority auto exposure (A): auto exposure priority open aperture.
  • Artificial light: man-made light used for shooting means.
  • ASA: stands for 'American Standard Assosiation' which is the standard of film sensitivity.
  • Auto Program Programed Auto (P): Automatic facility to select normal and high-speed programmed lighting, depending on the lens lens length.
  • Auto winder: motor that is useful to advance the film automatically and quickly without having to be cocked or diengkol first.

  • Back light: the illumination that comes from the back of the object.
  • Bayonet: lens holder system that requires only less than 90 degrees of rotation to perform lens replacement.
  • Photography birds eye view: a point of view in a photo shoot that resembles the sight of a bird.
  • Blitz: flash.
  • Blitzlichtpulver: the origin of flash which is made from beberepa powder mixture such as magnesium and potassium chlorade which when it can emit light.
  • Blur: the degree of obscurity of the object when shooting.
  • Bottom light: the light that comes from the bottom of the object.
  • Bounce flash: reflected ray.
  • Bracketing: a similar technique of taking the same thing by giving different combinations of illumination to an object.
  • Built-in diopter: regulator dioptri.
  • Bulb bulb: a very slow shutter speed device in the camera used for photographing objects.

  • C: stands for continuous on camera, its function is to declare the user banner images in a row with a certain speed.
  • Candid: a portrait created in a clandestine manner so that the photographed object does not know it.
  • CCD: stands for 'Charge Couple Device' which is a film replacement chip used in digital cameras to record images.
  • Center of focus: the center of attention.
  • Center wight: the lighting measurement is focused on only 60% of the bright areas of the image.
  • Coating: giving a thin layer on the surface of the lens.
  • Cold tone: cool color.
  • Color balance: color balance.
  • Composition: the composition, ie placement or arrangement of parts of an image to form a unity in a particular field, so comfortable to look at.
  • Contrast: differences in gradient, brightness, or color tone.
  • Cropping: compacting / cutting the image in a photograph or something that is printed by removing certain undesirable parts.
