How to Setting a Focus Manual on a DSLR Camera

Almost all cameras must have auto-focus feature in it. Although there is auto-focus, we also need manual-focus help anytime. Many macro photographers use manual focus because it is difficult to lock the focus when the subject of the photo is only 20cm in front of the lens. Similarly, when we shoot in tricky conditions, such as when photographing subjects that are behind the glass, or when we photographed subjects that move very fast and we can only predict the focal point on where the subject will be going.

Here are the ways manual-focus settings in DSLR cameras

Step 1: Switch the button to M

First set the focus position on the lens, you will see marking marked M / A or AF / MF in lens, replace in position M.

Step 2: Rotate the focus ring

To determine the focus, we simply turn the focusing ring. In the lens there are usually two rings that can be rotated, if one changes the zoom then the other is the focusing ring, rotate the last one while the eyes peek in the viewfinder. Sometimes we have to rotate right and left while making sure the area we want to focus on is really sharp.

Step 3: Set the distance scale

The lens has a distance scale aka the distance scale on its body to help us manually focus, sometimes when shooting in dark conditions this distance scale will greatly help us estimate where the focusing ring should be rotated.

Step 4: Check the focus sharpness

To check how sharp the images are, check the images on the LCD screen and zoom up large and navigate in areas we want to focus sharply. Usually when shooting a face, we must check the sharpness in the eye area. Zoom eye area and repeat shoot if the result is not sharp.
